PARENTS are demanding that Tesco drops its Christmas advert – because they can’t bribe their kids with Santa’s naughty list.

The cheeky advert sees the supermarket tell customers that there’s no naughty list this year, as it urges people to treat themselves.

The new clip centres around Brits confessing to bad behaviour, including giving dodgy haircuts and buying too much toilet roll during lockdown.

But Tesco tells them all is forgiven as 2020 has been a difficult year following the coronavirus crisis.

The Tesco narrator can be heard saying: “Guys, it’s fine – there is no naughty list, so tuck in.”

Taking to Twitter today, parents have jokingly blasted the supermarket for taking the naughty list away, as they now can’t use it to bribe their kids to be good.

Santa traditionally has both a naughty and nice list, with kids told that their behaviour will determine which list they end up on.

This then has an impact on how many presents they get on Christmas day.

One parent said: “I would appreciate if you stood down your latest commercial saying that ‘this year there won’t be a naughty list’.

“Us, parents, have kids to control during a pandemic and the naughty list is helping control the household. Signed, tired parent.”

Another said: “In my opinion Tesco have won best Christmas ad.

“However, the child has already told me ‘there is no naughty list’ – now what do I bribe her with.. Thanks Tesco.”

A third said: “B****y Nora Tesco, how am I going to bribe my kid to behave now with no naughty list threats?”

A fourth said: “Nice one Tesco… NO naughty list. Sorry for all parents who now can’t use this as a bribe for behaviour.”

The one-minute advert – which is set to Britney Spears’ iconic song “Oops!… I Did It Again” – has proved to be popular, with viewers praising it for being hilarious.

It starts by showing a girl who wants to buy a cake from Tesco, but feels she can’t after she gave her sister a bad haircut.

She asks: “What if I’m on the naughty list?”

But the narrator replies: “Relax, after this year Tesco says there is no naughty list – so take that cake. You deserve it.”

The next scene shows a man who bought too much toilet paper, with a snowman made up of bog roll in his front garden.

Other bad behaviour that’s overlooked is someone who forgot to sing Happy Birthday while washing his hands, in a reference to how long you should wash your hands for.

A mother also confesses to not teaching her kids physics or maths while homeschooling.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “Children, just like the rest of us, haven’t had the easiest of years.

“They’ve had to cope with their parents’ playing teacher, missed visits from the tooth fairy and been subjected to dodgy home haircuts.

“That’s why we think this year at Tesco there is no naughty list!”
