The feature has been shared on both TikTok and Reddit, and is very useful once you’ve found it.

Replying to the TikTok video, one fan wrote: “I had no idea this was even possible.”

First, you need to find the Control Center.

If you have an iPhone without a Home button, you’ll need to swipe down from the top-right corner.

And if your iPhone has a Home button, simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen.

Then look for the flashlight icon, which you’d normally just tap to turn it on.

However, if you hold your finger down on it, a hidden brightness menu will appear.

You can then drag or tap to adjust the brightness levels of the flashlight.

This means you can have it extra bright when needed, or a little dimmer if you don’t need the maximum.

FLASHY!

iPhone’s ‘secret’ button lets you take screenshots even faster – and there’s a long list of other perks too

That’s not the only iOS flashlight trick you need to know.

Your iPhone’s bright light can also come in handy when you’ve lost your handset.

If you know you’ve lost it somewhere at home, you can ask Apple‘s Siri to turn on the flashlight.

This is especially useful if you’ve lost it in the dark.

Simply say: “Hey Siri, turn my flashlight on.”

And if it’s nearby, you’ll hopefully see the bright light appear.

For this to work, you’ll need to have your Settings set up correctly in advance.

Go to Settings > Siri & Search, and then make sure that Allow Siri When Locked is toggled on.

And then go to Settings > Siri & Search > Listen For, and make sure you’ve got “Hey Siri” turned on.

If it’s set to Off then the trick won’t work.

iPhone tricks to try today

Here are some of the best…

  • Typing cursor – When typing, hold down the space bar to turn your keyboard into a trackpad, letting you move around words and sentences more easily
  • Close all Safari tabs – To do this in one go, simply hold the overlapped squares in the bottom right-hand corner, and press close all tabs
  • Delete lots of photos quickly – Hold down on a photo and then drag your finger diagonally in Photos to select lots of images at once, then hit delete
  • Convert currency quickly – Swipe down from the top of your Home screen, then tap in the bar and type a currency (like €200) and it will automatically covert to your local currency
  • Check if you’re due a battery upgrade – Batteries inside smartphones degrade over time. Just go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health, and check out the Maximum Capacity reading. Generally a battery is considered worn when you’re down to 80% capacity. If you’re below, you can buy a battery swap from Apple
  • Move apps around faster – Hold an app until it starts wiggling, then (while still holding) tap other apps, causing them to stack so you can move them around easier
