IF you’re planning to buy and wear a poppy ahead of Remembrance Day in 2020, we explain how to get your hands on one.

The red flowers, sold officially by the Royal British Legion, are worn as a mark of respect to those who died during the First World War.

The poppies are also used to raise money for veterans who are still alive but whose lives have been changed by war.

Remembrance Day falls on November 11 this year, so if you’re planning to buy a poppy, it’s about time to start planning where to get it from.

The Poppy Appeal has been impacted by the coronavirus crisis, so getting one will be slightly different this year.

Poppies are usually sold by volunteers at workplaces, train stations and high streets.

However, with many workplaces currently closed and strict coronavirus restrictions in place, you may find it harder to get your hands on one.

Many volunteers are also retired men and women in vulnerable categories, meaning they’re unable to sell them during the pandemic.

That’s why The Sun, backed by celebs from David Beckham to Captain Tom Moore, has launched a campaign for the Poppy Appeal this year.

As of October 7, we’re putting the poppy on our front page every day until Remembrance Day on November 11.

If you’re keen to show your support too and get your hands on a poppy this year, we explain where to buy one below.

The Royal British Legion says there are a number of ways that people can still get their hands on a poppy for Remembrance Day.

If you’re able to get to a supermarket, Asda, Lidl, Morrisons, M&S, Sainsbury’s and Tesco are all official partners and selling the flowers.

Sainsbury’s shoppers will also be able to get the flowers as part of their online order, with the prices starting from £1 for a stick-on paper poppy.

While M&S is selling a wide range of poppy items online, with the cheapest product a pair of poppy socks for £3.50.

Just keep in mind that Sainsbury’s delivery fees range between 50p and £7, and there’s a £25 minimum spend.

While M&S charges £3.50 for standard delivery, unless you spend more than £50, which means it’s free.

The retailer also offers click and collect at no extra cost.

Where else can I buy poppies online?

The Royal British Legion has an official “Poppy Shop” online where you can buy the flowers and have them delivered.

The products on sale include the classic paper poppy with a plastic stem, which costs £2.

The website is also selling a small poppy pin for £2.99, or you can get a flower for the car for £5.49.

Just keep in mind that delivery starts from £3.99 if your order amounts to less than £40. If you spend more, it’s free.

Also, be aware that the last order date for guaranteed delivery in time for Remembrance Day was this Tuesday, November 3.

Online shoppers can also use the official Amazon and eBay shops, which are affiliated with the Royal British Legion.

Some of the items on Amazon are eligible for free UK delivery, while the eBay price tags typically exclude a £3.99 delivery fee.

In September, hundreds of Poppy Day parades were at risk of being cancelled due to coronavirus.

Labour also urged Defence Secretary Ben Wallace to step in to ensure our fallen heroes are remembered.
