It is a dilemma many parents have faced – their child wants the latest smartphone that costs an eye-watering amount.

One father found himself in the debacle after he refused to buy his 11-year-old daughter the latest Apple iPhone 15 Max Pro, which costs $1,119.

The young girl – who owned an older version – had asked for a new smartphone, as her friends all have one, but the battle began when her dad suggested an iPhone 13.

‘My daughter got mad at me and said I was ruining her life and that her best friend has a 15 Pro Max,’ he shared in a Reddit post with more than 9,500 comments from others who are running to his aid.

Another Redditor shared a story about their 10-year-old wanting the $45 Stanley Cup, to which the parent told their daughter that she already had two functioning water bottles.

‘Well, more specifically, I went into lecture mode about financial literacy and how she didn’t need one until her others needed replacement. She said I was guilting her and my goal in life was to make her miserable,’ the post reads.

Some of the comments offered the dad some advice about how to handle his situation.

‘Who’s the parent? Don’t let your daughter guilt you into something, an iPhone 13 is still a new and good phone,’ the Redditor posted.

‘Your daughter is at that age where she’s comparing herself to her friends and u don’t want her to think she needs everything everybody else has.

‘If you can afford an iPhone 15 for her I honestly think you should create a way for her to ‘earn it’ so she doesn’t learn to expect to get whatever she says.’

Another user declared that an 11-year-old does not need an iPhone Pro 15 Max for any reason, ‘other than she wants it.’

‘If a life is ruined by not having an iPhone 15 pro max, maybe it needs to be ruined for a rude awakening,’ one person shared.

Another Redditor echoed a similar opinion: ‘An 11-year-old doesn’t need a thousand-dollar phone.

‘Careful…you’re well on your way to raising an entitled brat.’

Apple launched the iPhone 15 Pro Max in September, which boasts a number of impressive features including a new Action Button, a titanium finish, and a USB-C charger.

The smartpho9ne has teh new A17 Pro chip that the company touts as unlocking next-level gaming experiences,’ which was part of the daughter’s case on why she should get the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
