DECIDUEYE has been a fan favourite Pokémon ever since it was introduced, and now it’s coming to Tera Raids in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

After the excitement of the Mewtwo event, we’re now calming down a bit with Hiusian Decidueye, the regional variant of the Alolan starter from Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Hisuian Decidueye may not be Mewtwo, but it's still a tough raid encounter.

This Grass/Fighting-type has is no pushover, which is why we’ve put together this guide on how to counter it in Scarlet & Violet.

We’ll tell you the best Pokémon to face this raid boss so you can come away with the best rewards.

What is Decidueye’s set? – Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Tera raids

As a heavy physical attacker, you’ll want to bring something bulky that can stand up to a lot of punishment.

With hard-hitting attacks and plenty of stat-boosting moves your focus should be on staying in the fight as long as possible.

What Pokémon can counter Decidueye? – Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Tera raids

Based on this raid’s requirements for typing, defensive boosts, and special attacks, we’ve picked out a selection of Pokémon who should all work wonders.

Skeledirge

This Fire/Ghost-type starter is an obvious choice. It’s Ghost-typing makes it immune to Fighting-type moves as well as resist Grass thanks to being part-Fire.

It can spit out tough attacks in return too, as Torch Song’s special attack boosts mean it will get more powerful with every use.

If that isn’t enough, Will-O-Wisp can cut Decidueye’s attacking power in half while Skeledirge heals itself with Slack Off.

Here is the full Skeledrige set:

Skeledirge – Level 100

  • Nature: Bold
  • Ability: Unaware
  • Item: Shell Bell/Metronome
  • Tera-type: Fire
  • Move set: Torch Song, Will-O-Wisp, Mud Slap/Sunny Day, Slack Off

Indeedee(F)

If you’re looking to support a team then Indeedee is a fantastic pick.

Once again the Ghost-typing helps wonders from a defensive standpoint, but Indeedee’s moveset is where it really shines.

Psychic Terrain negates Decidueye’s Grass Terrain, Helping Hand boosts allies’ attack, Charm lowers Decidueye’s attack, and Heal Pulse keeps your allies in the fight.

Here is the full Indeedee set:

Indeedee (F) – Level 100

  • Nature: Lax
  • Ability: Own Tempo
  • Item: Terrain Extender
  • Tera-type: Steel
  • Move set: Psychic Terrain, Helping Hand, Charm, Heal Pulse

Charjabug

It may not be fully evolved, but that’s exactly what makes it such a great choice for this raid.

Giving it Eviolite to hold will boost its defense and keep it in the fight for ages while its ability boosts the special attack of its allies.

Throw on top of that moves like Mud Slap and Pounce, and you’ll be able to utterly cripple Decidueye’s offensive capabilities.

Here is the full Charjabug set:

Charjabug – Level 100

  • Nature: Relaxed
  • Ability: Battery
  • Item: Eviolite
  • Tera-type: Steel
  • Move set: Mud Slap, Iron Defense, Pounce, Lunge

Armarouge

Armarouge is another attacker and a good alternative to Skeledirge.

It shares the same Fire/Ghost-typing, but rather than going all-out on offensive power, it has a bit of a cheeky tactic up its sleeve.

With the move Clear Smog is can negate any buffs Decidueye tries to set up, allowing Armarouge to come in with its own set up and blast it away.
